I must have been a bit slow today, I was asked if I wanted a loyalty card, I said yes. Ten minutes later I had a credit card with the amount up to 鎷?00 and the clerk attempting to put my purchase down on this card when I had the cash their in front of her in my hand.
No wonder the whole country is up to their ears in debt.
When the financial industry is so tightly regulated, Financial advisors having to fork out so much a year to even give advice, how is it acceptable to pick up a credit card at a store, without a basic discussion about even the APR and miss sold under the term 閳ユ窡oyalty card閳?
I didn閳ユ獩 have any ID on me (which at the time I just thought was for a loyalty card/point system), I used my mothers debit card as proof that -I- was over 18, does that even make sense?
No checks on whether I was in employment (I閳ユ獡 not currently)
No checks on whether I was 閳ユood閳?for whatever I would rack up in credit
Shouldn閳ユ獩 their be a stricter process?
Stores giving Credit Cards?
Well done for vowing to destroying it on arrival! Make sure you do.
You presented a really lucid explanation but why don%26#039;t you write to the company and let them know how you feel? If you want to make a difference then vent your feelings in the direction of most influence.
Stores giving Credit Cards?
store cards ..... just say no people must be a lot stronger and say no to store cards i live life if you ain%26#039;t got it save for it or go without people can be very silly and seem to want every thing. why!
Stores giving Credit Cards?
There should, and you%26#039;re absolutely right with all the points you raise. I think it%26#039;s disgusting how the people who can least afford it are targeted in order to profit from them. It%26#039;s no wonder people get themselves into such financial difficulty. I used to get really angry at the Bank of Scotland who, during November, used to send me ten blank cheques, each of which could be used for up to 鎷?50 and which would be added on to my credit card, along with leaflets worded along the lines of %26quot;Easy and convenient cheques which can be used to buy anything....Christmas presents, toys for the kids, or to spruce up your house in time for the festive season%26quot; etc etc instead of %26quot;get yourself into debt this year! Yes! You CAN buy things you can%26#039;t afford and have no means to pay for, and we%26#039;re here to help you!%26quot;
Grrr...
You started me off on a right rant there!
Stores giving Credit Cards?
Yes there should be. In the %26quot;good ol%26#039; days%26quot; they actually reserved lending money to only people who could pay it back. Now they hand out credit cards to college kids with no jobs. The idea is get your credit bad early and you pay for it the rest of your life with higher intrest rates.
Stores giving Credit Cards?
Financial Advisers don%26#039;t have to fork out money to give advice, they get paid massive commissions for signing customers up to products and believe me they%26#039;re loaded!!!!
The only thing they do wrong is con people into the wrong deals just to earn themselves more money - most of them are corrupt and it%26#039;s not just them it%26#039;s the companies they work for too cos they put pressure on them to sell whether it%26#039;s right or wrong.
And as for the Financial Services Authority, they%26#039;re the most corrupt of them all, they just brush things under the carpet cos they%26#039;re on the side of the companies not the consumers. I know I worked in the business for a long time............
