I lost my SBI credit card, reported the matter to police and their customer care(?). Now the transactions done in lost period are put on me. They call any time and foul mouth me, hurl choicest abuses on me. I clearly told them to investigate who used my card and take the money from him. They don listen. Everyday a new person calls and abuses me.

In fact they can ask the police dept to investigate. or they can verify the signatures on counterfoils with my signature.

They dont take any insurance in case of loss of card.

They dont put photo of the owner on the card.

They allow the transaction even if a person not the card holder presnts it for transaction.

They send the details of your card to all the wrong email address. this way they endanger your finances.

they donot have any complaint cell. In case if you have dispute what they ( their system) say is correct and you have to pay no way out. So beware. Go for anyother credit card but dont use SBI. they are rascals cheaters!!!

As far as i know, credit card companies in India do not have any lost card insurance. They always hold cardholder liable for any transactions when the card is lost.

It%26#039;s the shopkeeper%26#039;s job to check if the sign done on charge-slip is matching with the sign on the back of card and not bank%26#039;s. Actually, bank does not receive any charge-slip for the transaction been done. Bank receives electronic entry thru Visa or MasterCard about transaction and then the bank disburses the amount mentioned.

However if the transaction is done after you informed the loss of card to bank then the bank is liable for the same.

You can always contact Banking Ombudsman thru RBI website for any problems you are facing for credit cards in India.

Here%26#039;s what you should do. First, you should put in writing that you dispute the charges and want them to validate that you AUTHORIZED the charges.

If someone else signs your name, but it isn%26#039;t your signature, YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for that charge, period. It doesn%26#039;t matter if they say you are, you aren%26#039;t. You sign credit card slips agreeing to allow the extension of credit with each purchase, not as a whole on the account.

Second, get a voice recorder or recorder program and record them verbally abusing you. This is strictly forbidden by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and you can sue them for $1000 per incident in small claims court.

Third, just a pointer. If you reported it lost/stolen and filed a police report, find that date. Even if some stupid court held up their claim that you should pay, they CAN NOT make you pay after you have reported it stolen as it%26#039;s THEIR fault for not putting a freeze on the account.

Simple fix! You wait until these dirt bags call again and record them. It is totally legal to record them unknowingly as per the FTC rules and regulations. Then you file a complaint with FTC and you also file a lawsuit against BOTH creditor and collection agency!!!!
