OK California rules are very crapy going thru a divorce right now. Even though they are her credit cards California is a 50/50 state...she can require you pay half of them. I know this sucks but very true.

When i got divorced the debts that were occured in the marriage got spilt up equally even though the bills were in my name but that was in Indiana so i dont know cali might be different.

Unfortunately for you California is a community property state, which means, everything she brought into the marriage is part yours. If her lawyer is any good at all, you will end up splitting this debt with her.

I would check with your divorce attorney but I believe that as long as the debt was incurred during the marriage it is both your responsibility. Sucks I know!

I%26#039;ve been through this myself... Go get a lawyer. Do it fast. Yes, it%26#039;s going to cost money and it sucks big time. But if you don%26#039;t protect yourself, you could lose a lot more.

Oh, and California is a 50/50 state, so you probably do have to pay part of her credit debt. But, only that which occured before you filed for divorce probably.

Everything is 50/50 in a marriage. Check ur state law on this.....if she had it before u were married should be hers...if not then u will be liable for at least half....this is in most states
