I recently brought charges against someone in NJ for falsely using my credit cards. Can I drop the c

My daughter and a clerk at her school used my credit cards and ran up 27,000 dollars among 5 of them, along with the daughter of the clerk. My daughter is 16, the clerk is 52, and her daughter is 20. Upon their arrest, they both admitted their complete guilt and said they were guilty of everything we said. Now my duaghter is saying she did it. They are being sentenced on January 14. Can I drop the charges?

It may not be that simple. It was your credit card, but every store they used it in is a victim, as is the bank that issued the card. Anyone that lost money or merchandise would have to agree to drop charges.

From what I%26#039;ve read the trial is over and they are awaiting sentencing. So dropping the charges should have been done before the trial. I don%26#039;t think you can do anything except maybe ask the judge for some sort of leniency. But that will have to be done through your lawyer. Some judges will ask if there is anything the victim has to say before he sentences. So good luck with that.

I don%26#039;t know about dropping the charges - sounds to me like your daughter is taking the blame to get the others off the hook... I%26#039;d let it play out in court and see what happens.... The clerk and her daughter are adults - they know what they were doing and when the confessed they knew the concequences....

Don%26#039;t know about US law but I would imagine you can drop the charges but why would you want to? Your daughter needs to learn a lesson - you will be failing her if you let her off with this.

Nope, if they already admitted guilt to the police and signed a confession they are going to be prosecuted no matter what you do.

The only chance you had to drop charges was when the cops brought them in for questioning.........Now it%26#039;s in the District Attorney hands and when they have something solid and concrete they will not let go......

There are no more charges. There is a criminal conviction. They owe the state or federal government for their crime, not you.
